It's a very happy birthday to Sir Mick Jagger who turns 66 today.

Jagger was born in Dartford, Kent, England to father Basil Jagger and Australian born mother Eva Mary. (Begging the question why Australia doesn't lay claim to Jagger?)
Jagger went to school with eventual band mate Keith Richards, but after a school change the two drifted apart until a chance encounter found their common ground of blues music and The Rolling Stones were born.
Despite the early success of the Rolling Stones- before they were event out of their teens, Jagger kept one eye on the future, completing his schooling before progressing to begin a business course at the famous London School of Economics.
From their first gig in 1962 through to being named unofficially the UK's favourite group in 1964, it was a speedy and dangerous ascension for the band. For Jagger, the band became an all consuming beast by the autumn of 1963 and he left his course to go full time with the band.
The band not only held top chart positions in the 60s, but every decade til today saw the band in some high charting pposition. their reputation for brilliant songs, huge tours, financial smarts and hard partying made them not just a part of rock n roll, but perhaps the very definition of rock n roll.
Jagger's personal life has been as complicated as anyone else in rock n roll amassing two wives and seven childrean with four different women. He is also a grand father four times over.
In 2003 Jagger was knighted for services to music. Band mate Ketih Richards described the knighthood as being "...not what the Stones is about, is it?"
With a perdonal fortune estimated at over $600 Million AUS, Jagger continues to perform both solo and with the Rolling Stones and looks unlikely to retire anytime soon.
