Red Hot Chili Peppers frontman Anthony Kiedis says the band's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction has triggered emotional memories of their former guitarist Hillel Slovak.
Next year the Red Hot Chili Peppers, along with Guns N’ Roses, Beastie Boys, The Small Faces/The Faces and Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood, will be inducted into the the empire honouring the most influential artists of all time.
Kiedis told Rolling Stone the prestigious award has brought back a lot of memories about their former guitarist who died from a heroin overdose.
"The most emotional part for me was thinking about Hillel Slovak," Kiedes told Rolling Stone.
"There was something about going back and thinking about something that we started in a living room with Hillel Slovak.
"Because he's no longer with us, it seemed emotional and beautiful. It's really kind of his induction that I'm most excited about. He's a beautiful person that picked up a guitar in the 1970s and didn't make it out of the 1980s, and he is getting honored for his beauty."
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place on April 14, 2012 in Cleveland, Ohio.
