Aussie icon Molly Meldrum is in a critical condition in hospital, suffering from a fractured skull, broken ribs and a punctured lung. The much-loved music critic, journalist and record producer was found unconscious in his Richmond home last night after injuring himself while putting up Christmas decorations.
Meldrum first won over Australian hearts when he was the interviewer, music news presenter and talent coordinator on Countdown, which aired from 1974 to 1987. Meldrum was awarded with an ARIA in 1993 for Special Achievement and also won the Ted Albert Award at the APRAs in 1994.
