George Michael has been admitted into hospital to treat a bout of pneumonia, forcing him to postpone some gigs in the UK.

His team posted a blurb on his website, explaining the situation to his devastated fans.

"With great regret, George Michael has been forced to postpone his November 26 and 27 shows in Cardiff, Wales, due to his ongoing illness," the post reads.

"George was recently forced to postpone tour dates in Vienna and Strasbourg under doctor's orders after being diagnosed with pneumonia. He is currently receiving treatment."

Michael, who will be heading Down Under next year, has suffered from a recent string of health issues.

On Monday he cancelled his Vienna gig a short two hours before it was set to kick off.
